Air is the biggest enemy of any inkjet print head. Even small air bubbles can affect print quality. Therefore, the print head should be bled after every transport and after long periods of inactivity.
How to bleed the print head
- Make sure the ink has reached at least 42 °C (108 °F). Cold ink is too viscous and may damage the print head or ink bags.
- Place a Dust Free Wipe underneath the nozzle.
- Gently press the center of the corresponding ink bag using your fingers.
- Only a few drops of ink are required to remove any air from the nozzles.
Important notes
- Never apply excessive pressure. Too much pressure can permanently damage the print head.
- Only press the center of the ink bag. Never press or pull on the fittings.
- Do not slide your hand across the ink bag. This does not remove air from the system and may damage the bag.
